One law, two law, red law, blue law

I can't seem to find it on Google: which Congressinally-signed law says
the American people are required to pay a tax based on their income? I
looked for "Tax Act" and whatnot, and didn't find anything that made any
sense to me. What gives?

I prefer to post what I know, not what I don't know. I've never run for
President.

Thanks for your help.

  1. It's the 16th Amendment to the Consitution: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
